Boomers Health - An Ongoing Quest

Health is important to everyone but boomers health is especially important for a number of reasons. First it is associated with one of the largest groups of individuals that have ever existed at any one time. Therefore, because of our numbers, it stands to reason that a wider range of medical conditions concerning our health would be brought to the forefront. Conditions such as heart disease, cancer, arthritis, diabetes, and the list could go on. We are becoming older and like it or not, with aging, health issues arise.

Take Action For Boomers Health

I for one am not willing to sit idly by and simply react to per chance diseases and illnesses as they come my way. So, secondly, I would (and I suspect others would also) rather react in a positive manner and enjoy the benefits of a quality, healthy life. For example, one recent study (Journal of Clinical Oncology, Vol 21, Issue 9 (May), 2003) found that different types of exercise and strength training have helped in fighting the effects of cancer treatments particularly concerning boomers health.

If you want to be proactive concerning your boomers health, you have to understand that without that health you have nothing. Learn to beat obesity, diabetes, heart disease and more by taking a look at this. An ex-pharmaceutical chemist exposes health myths and gives shortcut answers to the biggest health problems!

Wikipedia states that 'health (and I would add boomers health) is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity'. They further state that 'health care is the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well being through the services offered by the medical, nursing, and allied health professions'.

It is no wonder then that medical information sites, medical research journals and medical news of all sorts abound. Boomer nutrition is important to the economy but, guess what, it is more important to US! Good nutrition is one of our strongest allies in the fight for maintaining good health and prevention against disease. Our health is a fight we can and should take into our own hands and nutrition is a very strong part of the arsenal.

We baby boomers are a busy generation with a lot on our plates (no pun intended) and because of that fact we tend to lose tract of priorities sometimes. Stress then becomes a strong factor with our health. My definition of stress is simply the way the body or person reacts to types of stimuli. We have good and bad types of anxiety. I will explain that in the above link. Prolonged good stress may turn into bad without us immediately realizing it and consequently become bad for our health.

Aging Baby Boomers Should Not Look Like This

Antiaging is another health issue that is a high priority on all of our lists. The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine reported and I quote "All totaled, Murphy and Topel argue that reducing the death rate from either heart disease or cancer by 20% would be worth around $10 trillion to Americans -- more than one year's U.S. Gross Domestic Product." They are speaking of longevity and while we certainly want the life extension, we don't want the old age look with it. To maintain our health and our younger look is for the boomer an uphill battle. Hey, we all like a challenge, don't we?

One real factor in that battle for boomers health is nutritional supplements. Supplements containing vitamins , minerals , herbs, and amino acids are the link between so many areas of our life. They help us work at improving memory, they add anti aging nutrition in a hurry-up lifestyle, antioxidants for better internal health and the list goes on concerning the benefits.
